Shredded Wheat

So here's a little edit i made from the (lack of) footage we got today at bear mountain. Just another dumb little edit, all for fun. Quit sippin on haterade and enjoy some great tunes and decent editing. With any luck i'll be up again later this week truly filming some decent lines and not just dumb stuff in the mini park haha. Enjoy!

[i recommend watching on youtube, i haven't figured out how to resize it perfectly yet]

And here are le tunez:

Both of these are highly recommended downloads.
Keep an eye out for some new boarding edits in the near future, accompanied by, as always, some delicious melodies.

Yes, I do brush and Floss Daily...

I have no idea what to write, what to post, or what to do about this terribly painful cavity I've got...

Once I spoke the language of the flowers,
Once I understood each word the caterpillar said,
Once I smiled in secret at the gossip of the starlings,
And shared a conversation with the housefly
in my bed.
Once I heard and answered all the questions
of the crickets,
And joined the crying of each falling dying
flake of snow,
Once I spoke the language of the flowers. . . .
How did it go?
How did it go?

Shel Silverstein

(Browsing iTunes library for about 15 minutes....)

These songs are not the newest, or hottest, just some I've had playing lately...

My favorite track for the past 10 days or so, once 2:16 rolls around, I
hope you will feel the same way, so smooth...

New Years is coming so soon! Remember, Drug Free is really cool.

Since It's Christmas..

..let's be glad
even if your life's been bad
there are presents to be had
take a walk out in the snow
and hear santa's "ho ho ho"
he's got a million miles to go..

Got Sufjan Stevens' "Songs for Christmas" box set two years ago, straight from Asthmatic Kitty Records themselves, and it's been on repeat every December since then. A great addition to the music collection and my heart indeed. You should pick this up if you can, it's like 63 songs on 5 separate albums, sufjan family christmas portrait poster, some art, a comic strip by sufjan, and more awesome holiday goodies for only 20 bucks or something along those lines. definitely recommended.

I've decided to post some the originals off this album, because i love them so much and i figure everyone is secretly getting sick of hearing the usual christmas tunes. Then i thought, if everyone's sick of the usual christmas tunes, they definitely need to hear Sufjan's versions.. they'll renew your love for the holiday and make you believe in santa all over again. So i'm leaving that up to you to do, call it your present to me. I threw in his rendition of Amazing Grace to prove my point, and further motivate you to pick up his covers. GOOD STUFF.

Merry Christmas Eve all, get ya jolly on tomorrow.

This One Goes Out to Our First Official Follower

There is almost too much to say about Pogo. He is a gift from Zeuss really. My wonderful friend Will Hayward (the man who introduced me to pogo) known as Vandal on our humble blog here, would be better at explaining him and his musical ways. I'm no good at this here Blogging thing, I just love music. So for now all I'm going to say is Pogo is, in essence "perfect" and cannot be touched. I'm hoping we will hear more about him and his styles in a future post from Will. Thanks man.

P.S. Merry Christmas, and for all you fans of the movie "Hook," or just great humor for that matter, watch this video!

No Difference in Art and Life

I picked up this album yesterday, entitled "Media" by The Faint. Dance inducing synths, vocoded choruses and subtly creepy futuristic lyrics? Not at all. This is a very nice surprise. The debut release by the band in 1998 really blew my mind, in the oddest way.

I've loved the Faint for a while now, but had only had a few songs from back in my limewire days, where i'd discover someone new, type their name into a search engine and randomly download 5 to 10 tracks that popped up. I think Glass Danse was the first song i heard by them, can't really recall. I thought there must have been another band who called themselves The Faint when i first heard the track Syntax Lies in this edit by TJ Schneider and the guys at Capita and the Snowboard Realms:

Coincidentally, he used another track from the same album, "Tandem: City to City" in another edit. Both these songs reminded me vaguely of early Get Up Kids and maybe even Moving Units if they were on prozac. After that, i needed to pick up the album regardless. Couldn't find it illegally, tried pretty hard to find a hard copy of it, failed, then just bought it on iTunes. Its really been growing on me. The best part is that this album was put out on Saddle Creek Records, a company i had been into waaaay back in the day who signed artists such as Desaparecidos, Bright Eyes, Beep Beep, Cursive, Tokyo Police Club (to name my favorites) and more all in the very early stages of these artists' lives. Really brought back memories of when i first really started getting into music and discovering stuff on my own rather than waiting for the radio to tell me what i should listen to. Haven't really had the radio on since then, and life would not be the same without these little finds.

So i don't know, just cool how this huge influence in my life has remained prevalent for so long and sort of completely come back around and showed me where it all started again. I love music. I say that with the utmost sincerity. It's been like 8 or so years since i truly started forming this diverse taste in music i've come to own, and it still continues. Thought i'd share it with you.

Buy "Media" on iTunes! or from Saddle Creek!! or better yet get the hard copy if you can hunt deep enough into the shelves at best buy.

Merry Christmas.

Day n' Dub

So i got bored tonight, came up with this incomplete, unmastered track after about 35 minutes. Just for fun, it doesn't have much going for it.. i just messed around with a few synths, threw in a joke acapella of Kid Cudi's Day n' Nite, and went from there. This is the first "dubstep" (i wouldn't go that far yet) track that i've ever made, don't quite have the hang of it yet apparently. Play it through some real speakers to hear all the bass tracks, and try not to make too much fun of me. I'd say it's about a 6/10 on the fail scale. I definitely could've done worse.. i hope? Anyway...

Alright, i'm out for the night.

This Chick..

is pretty much amazing.

Ellie Goulding needs to have a comfy spot in each one of your itunes libraries, starting today. Here's one of my personal favorites:

And a must have original:

DUBSTEP BONUS! Alright so before the haters can get to me on this post, i should post a little disclaimer: i know, Jakwob is not TRUE dubstep. if you want true dubstep, look up bar9, tek-one, datsik, rusko, etc etc. So, in conclusion, this remix is one of my favorites of all time, despite however 'mainstream' it may seem in the dubstep world. definitely a feel good track that deserves a good bumpin.

inEssential Mix

Threw this little crap mix together as a winter break kick off, don't expect much it's only 20 minutes haha. Wanted to try some weirder cuts, the 4 versions of warp sewn together are a good example of how much that can fail. It also gets a little hectic around 7 min, so prepare yourself. This is a little more exemplary of my taste in chaotic noisy distortion type electro, so bear with me on the clipping. And nahh it's not that bad.. but not that good. I don't know, give it a listen and let me know what's up. Enjoyyyyy..

P.S. I'm saving "We Love Animals" for a more worthy set..
nawmeen?
Alright, peace.

P.P.S. if you've ever downloaded music illegally, keep it up.
Read this article and find out why!

I'm Out

if my life consisted of frequent epic driving montages of me staring out the window at one amazing chunk of scenery after another, this is what would be playing in my headphones:

now go have an adventure.
& expect a mix up shortly, schools out, so my life now consists of boarding and DJing.
good stuff.

A- Trak blew my mind this year at Hard Haunted 2009, he was the only thing keeping us sane from all the dumb ass ravers throwing up everywhere. I finally found this awesome post on YouTube of his hip hop set and Robot Rock beat juggle... We love you A- Trak.

Indie Empire

So have I told you how much I miss park city? A lot. Saw these guys at a venue called Velour in Provo that happened to be holding a Battle of the Bands. We stopped in for a few sets before venturing to Electro Night at the Loft, just down the street (which was siiiiick, and my boy Chris Livingston dropped some heavy hitters in the Black Hats set, btw). Anyway, these guys, known as Empirates to those who are lucky enough to have heard them, really caught my eye and ear with great energy and stage presence, and hints of Moving Units meeting The Growlers on a preppy college campus in fall. Great stuff, you need to check these guys out. Got this mp3 ripped off a free demo cd they were giving out at the door.

The reason we cruised to this venue in the first place was for these guys, Goodnight Gilbert, whom are good friends with some of the other admins here at homeschool. Make sure to give them a listen!

I'm off to study, good day to you.

Can I Kick It?

NO I CAN'T. Cuz it's finals week, so somebody please come kill me like lu killed this track:
&cop Enemy of the State if you're not in the loop....... lup... lupe.. get it? nevermind.

Let's take it back a little.. this came up on shuffle while riding park city this past weekend, great to vibe to on tired drives home:

Speaking of taking it back, this also came up riding.. helped me come back from a failed 270 out to edge catch to face bleed. In my mind, Jay doesn't even come close to L on this ish, who kills it like no other, with reason. His .38 works great. Straight out 1998. Enjoy.

Time to close this thing up, here's something to creep around your suburban hood to, paying homage to the almighty L. Dude can flow for sure:

The 50s Are So Appealing

Its 10 Degrees outside my window and Mr. Johnsons wife is baking fresh apple pies. She asked me to come over but I had to decline the invitation, I already have wet socks as it is.

Berlin - Alaska in Winter

Eatin' Chicken and Fries

Whats better than Killa Cam and Clipse rapping about Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits? NOTHING. NOTHING IS BETTER. Go steal their new disc from your local Wal-Mart. Peace to everyone selling cocaine in Virginia and Dunleavy.

Dear Mr. Rifo,

Please try not to lose all respect for me upon reading this post, and tell Tommy Tea I say hello..

Those beetroots keep bleeding, right into the holidays. My guess is that the lame play on words you just read has been posted countless times before, but I could care less; I just wanna nap. So, Christmas Vendetta dropped roughly a week ago, and I really believe that everyone needs to form their own opinion on this one. Super grimey, static filled, electro madness dripping with feedback. If Calvin Harris' 'Ready for the Weekend' were A Rocket to the Moon, then 'Christmas Vendetta' might be Arsonists Get All the Girls. Anyone down with the grindcore reference? Whatever. Pick up these tracks, bang your head, pretend you're venom, etc. Decent bitrate for all you table turners out there, go ahead and drop em heavy<3

Friends Sing together...

Today was just a good day. Snowboarded with some good friends in a foot of fresh. These are some great day songs for you. Happy Birthday Taz!
